Congratulations to Ms. Tsz Wing FAN, a senior year student at Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of HKUST, for receiving the prestigious 2013/2014 Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowships. Tse Wing will join the HSING group in Fall 2013 as a CBME Ph.D. student.
Prof. Hsing was awarded a 2013 visiting lectureship by Chemistry Research Promotion Center at National Science Council of Taiwan. During a week long visit to Taiwan in early March, Prof. Hsing gave invited seminars at four Universities in Taiwan, including Taiwan University, Tsinghua University, Chung Hsing University and Tunghai University.
Prof. Hsing chaired the USTBME conference at HKUST campus on January 10-12, 2013.
Prof. Hsing gave a keynote talk in the 5th Japan-Korea Joint Symposium on Bio-microsensing Technology-Future Technology in Medical & Dental Areas-on Oct. 26 in Kitakyushu, Japan.

A big welcome to three graduate students who just joined the Hsing group in August 2012. They are Mr. Chandra JINATA from Indonesia's Institut Teknologi Bandung who is a Ph.D. student in Bioengineering and a Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship (HKPFS) recipient, Ms. Joy Zhang from China's Fudan University who is a Ph.D. student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Ms. Lotus Yulian Zhou from China's Tsinghua University who is a a MPhil student in Bioengineering.
Prof. Hsing was deeply honored to co-host the visit of Prof. Shu Chien and Mrs. KC Hu Chien to HKUST. Prof. Chien delivered an inspiring IAS Distinguished Lecture "Perspectives in Biomedical Engineering" co-organized by IAS and Division of Biomedical Engineering.

Congratulations to Ms. Yange SUO, Ph.D., student in Chemical Engineering, for receiving a poster award in the "1st International Fuel Cell Summer Seminar for Young Scientists 2010" held in Aug. 2010 in Yamanashi JAPAN. She won the the award for a paper entitled "Impedance based mechanistic understanding of formic acid oxidation on Pd/C and synthesis of bimetallic Pd-Au nanoparticles for direct formic acid fuel cell application".

An mini-review article by Dr. Hsing and his Ph.D. student Xiaoteng Luo has been selected as a "hot article" in the Analyst, an RSC journal. The paper is entitled " Electrochemical Techniques on Sequence-Specific PCR Amplicon Detection for Point-of-Care Applications". This article is free to access for four weeks until Nov. 28, 2009.

Dr. Hsing has accepted the invitation from Wiley-VCH to become the first ever Chinese Regional Editor for the Journal Electroanalysis from 2010 onwards. Dr. Hsing will be responsible for the peer-review process and the decision-making for all manuscripts coming from Greater China (i.e., mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan).
